USAID supported MaMoni HSS is supporting the governmentto achieve its FP 2020 commitments to increase access, quality, and demand for FP services through technical leadership at the national level, strengthening service delivery with a focus on FP services for all eligible couples, especially for young couples, post-partum family planning (PPFP) and long acting and permanent methods (LAPM). The support includes:

Support tonational technical leadership - The program is contributing to the development of national strategies for family planning through the FP 2020 Bangladesh Country Engagement Working Group, the Post-Partum Family Planning Working Group, and the National Technical Committee (NTC), where MaMoni HSS is represented as a regular member.

Integration of FP service delivery through the existing MOH&FW service delivery systems: Majority of MaMoni HSS’ inputs are channeled through the peripheral level facilities, the UH&FWCs, and the community-based workers such as FWAs and HAs. In addition, the health system inputs at the district and upazila levels strengthen the availability and quality of FP services delivered at all levels of service provision.
The project also focuses on strengthening FP service delivery at DGHS facilities. MaMoni HSS is collaborating with other partners, especially Mayer Hashi II, to advocate for better space allocation for FP services in DGHS managed facilities such as UHC and DH. The project also seeks to improve record-keeping and reporting of FP services delivered at the DGHS facilities.

Community engagement and demand generation for FP services: The community engagement and behavior change efforts through community volunteers and community action groups also contribute to generating demand for FP services. The referral linkages include community volunteers, frontline health workers (HAs, CHCPs and HAs) and the health facilities so that the FP clients are referred to an appropriate provider to access FP services.

Implementation of the FP BCC Campaign MaMoni HSS project works with other USAID Implementing Partners, especially BKMI, EH II, SMC and other partners as well as the IEM Unit of DGFP to implement the Family Planning BCC campaign activities in the MaMoni HSS focus districts. The project has chosen not to develop new BCC materials but to leverage on the existing materials developed by the IEM Unit and other partners. . The BCC Units established by MaMoni HSS implementing partner NGOs will be optimally used to integrate FP communication activities, particularly targeting the under-served areas.
